Tim Gerber – Celebrating 20 Years

2025 marks an incredible milestone for Tim Gerber—20 years of service at Community Bank! Starting as a bank teller, Tim has risen through the ranks to become the Business Relationship Manager. Tim’s commitment to serving our community and his contributions to the success of our Cameron office have earned him a reputation as an invaluable member of the Community Bank family. Hear from Tim himself about his years at the bank and what he wishes to accomplish in the future:

Do you remember your first day with Community Bank?  I will never forget my first day. I met with Ted (my brother), and he started asking me some very basic banking questions. I knew immediately that I was in over my head as my financial knowledge was less than basic. I had majored in history in college, and in the history department we didn’t cover any of the terms that Ted was using. After that conversation I proceeded to my first day of bank teller training. I thought that working as a bank teller would be easy but I couldn’t have been more wrong.

I found out quickly that the teller position is the hardest job in the bank. You must be precise, make real-time decisions that if done incorrectly might negatively affect your customers or the bank, and you are always thinking on your feet. To top it off you must do all these tasks with a smile on your face. I went home that evening with a headache, and thoughts that I might have made a terrible career choice. Very soon after my first day I enrolled in a business basics class at a local community college to get the background knowledge needed to work in banking. Education and experience were all that I needed to gain some confidence and become a professional.

How has your job changed over the years?  In 2005 I started out as a bank teller/personal banker at the Siren branch and within a year I was working as the branch manager/loan officer.  I moved to Cameron in 2014 to replace my dad as the branch manager when he retired from that position. In 2023 I moved into the lending department full time as we reorganized and eliminated the branch manager position. I went from knowing very little about banking to learning a great deal more over the past 20 years. I will never claim to know it all as I learn something new every day.

What has been your biggest achievement?  My biggest achievement has been working with commercial loan customers as well as hiring new employees back when I was still involved in the hiring process. I have enjoyed watching those customers and employees mature and succeed in their businesses and careers.

What is your most memorable moment at Community Bank? When we remodeled the Cameron Branch several years ago, I had to move my office multiple times during the construction. At one point I just had a desk out in the middle of the hallway with a few large potted plants surrounding my desk for privacy.

What do you want to accomplish over the next 20 years?  I want to continue assisting customers in my community achieving their ultimate business and financial goals.

Thank you, Tim, for your dedication and hard work over the years! We look forward to seeing what the next 20 years have in store for you!
